There will be 2 bows and 2 sterns, plus 2 optional. The project is expected to be completed in November 2018 and it could be expanded with 2 possible additional tankers.

The contract of the four Suezmax activates the chain of subcontracts with auxiliary companies. One of them is the one subscribed by Navantia with Gaditana de Chorro y Limpieza, S.L., which is taking care of the coating systems applied on an exhaustive preparation of the surfaces, by means of abrasive blasting.
The treatment is carried out during the construction phase of the blocks, using the blasting and painting workshops of the shipyard of Puerto Real, protected from the weather conditions. It is carried out by using metallic grit, a mix of shot and angular grit, achieving a roughness profile of 75 to 100 μm. As a result, clean surfaces free of contaminants are obtained and also a good physical anchorage for the paint schemes provided by Jotun.
The treatment applied to the ballast and cargo tanks is specially strict, in order to comply with the IMO regulations, which requires that all works have to be carried out following the appropriate procedures and supervised by coating inspectors according to NS 476, with Norwegian certification Frosio Level III. The underwater area is protected with self-polishing antifouling of silyl acrylate, which allows longer periods of time of 5 years for dry docking. The seen surfaces of the oil tankers will be finished with aliphatic acrylic polyurethanes, two components, achieving a high degree of aesthetics, maintaining the color and brightness for long periods of time.
